Asbestos Testing and Consulting

Fibertec maintains a phase contrast microscopy (PCM), polarized light microscopy (PLM) laboratory, and indoor air quality laboratories. The PLM laboratory maintains current National Voluntary Laboratory Accreditation Program (NVLAP Lab Code: 101510-0) accreditation and is capable of analyzing building materials for the presence of asbestos. The PCM laboratory participates in the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health/ American Industrial Hygiene Association Proficiency Analytical Testing (NIOSH/AIHA PAT) Program and maintains a proficient rating in that program.

Our accredited staff can also provide asbestos building inspection and re-inspection services, management plan development, specification development, and operations and maintenance (O&M) program development, along with onsite air monitoring and project management services.

Polarized Light Microscopy Lab

Our Polarized Light Microscopy (PLM) laboratory is equipped with two NUAIRE high efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filter equipped fume hoods, and Olympus PLM microscope and a Nikon Optiphot II PLM Microscope. We analyze samples for the presence of asbestos in our National Voluntary Laboratory Accreditation Program (NVLAP Lab Code: 101510-0) accredited laboratory.

Phase Contrast Microscopy Lab

Our Phase Contrast Microscopy (PCM) Laboratory is equipped with three Olympus CH-2 phase contrast microscopes and specialized equipment for sample preparation. We analyze samples for the presence of airborne fibers pursuant to the strict requirements of the NIOSH 7400 Method. The Fibertec IHS PCM Laboratory is a proficient participant in the NIOSH/ AIHA PAT Program.
